It was the best story and cultural lesson ever: Youth for Culture - Back to Vevcani 2012
Saturday, 28 January 2012 18:56

As everybody know, getting to Macedonia is really complicated, but when life takes you, it becomes quite easy. I could say that my trip to Macedonia had already started 2 years ago in Portugal. With my Erasmus I started my life abroad. There, I met the classmate ever, chatting, travelling (and, of course, drinking vodka) I knew this country and I was really looking forward to going there. I could come to this land that I had been dreaming of the last year.

When informal surpasses formal: Turkish experience
Wednesday, 25 January 2012 12:57

Note: as  the title explains, in the down-written sentences, I will try to avoid the frame of formality. I would not like to sound like a tourist guide (even though a collection of brochures stares at me waiting to be used, while I am writing  this article). I do not want to sound official by only extending the schedule of the training course  which I visited (although I would not have to be creative in adding activities, because the schedule was  'thick' enough- the 20 hours of constant sleep after the return to Macedonia confirm it). I do not want to write just in order to fill place in this already colorful magazine (the fulfilling events in Turkey, do not allow me this). I only want to manage to present  even a glimpse of  my  unique Turkish experience (albeit I believe that it is impossible to explain something that it is breathtaking  even in the moments of actual presence).

In the middle of December, the last 2011, it happened by fortuity for me to go on a training course called “A new leader is born for Europe”, located in Cadirli (a town situated in the Asian part of Turkey).  As a new and scarcely-activated member of VCS (NGO), and at the same time a representative of the Macedonian Civil society (a role indented to me and my team partner, since  we were the only two from our country there) , after brief preparation and in half-confusion (because of the expectations of the this trip, first  from this type in our life), we headed for Turkey.

Youth for Culture – Back to Vevcani 2012 Started!
Sunday, 08 January 2012 23:17

On 7 January started youth exchange Youth for Culture – Back to Vevcani 2012. For six years young people coming from all around Europe have an opportunity to take part in one of the oldest Macedonian tradition – Vevcani carnival which is being celebrating for more than 1.400 years and this year is not an exception. Why is Vevcani carnival taking place on 13 January unique? In fact it is a massive event in which everyone from village Vevcani is taking part and for participants of the youth exchange it is extraordinary opportunity to experience pagan traditions and interact with local community. But the Youth exchange – Back to Vevcani is not just about carnival for which participants are making their own masks during the project days it is also about intercultural learning and discovering cultural  traditions and customs of participants countries which this year are Estonia, Latvia, Poland, Spain, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Serbia, Albania and Republic of Macedonia. All participants coming from these countries will on Friday, 13 January take part in Vevcani carnival and you do not miss the chance to join them.

Youth exchange Youth for Culture – Back to Vevcani 2012 is realized by Volunteers Centre Skopje with the support of the Youth in Action Programme of the European Union.
