One or twelve months abroad, doing interesting work, meeting new people and having a lot of fun. In addition, all of this for free. Volunteer work abroad sounds like every youngsters dream...isn't it...?
In Finland where I live, young people don't see it that way. There, going abroad and doing volunteer work is not familiar to them. Most of the youngsters who are living in my home town of Turku have other plans for their future. They want to make a career, study in university or start working after they have graduated from high school or vocational school.
